Antonietta Collins
Antonietta Toni Gonzalez-Collins is the Mexican American journalist. She is currently working as a sportscaster at ESPN, working as anchor for SportsCenter news and hosting SportsNation. Her first job at ESPN in the year 2016. She is a daughter of Maria Antonieta Collins, a television reporter. Antonietta was bilingual by when she was nine years old. It is this skill which helped her obtain her first role as a Univision production assistant in Miami. She worked with the producers of national shows such as Nuestra Belleza Latina Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud Primer Impacto. In 2009, the CBS station of St. Petersburg hired her in the following year as an sports reporter. After 2009, the reporter moved into Rio Grande Valley Texas where she worked for KNVO TV 48 Univision as and Fox2 News. She covered stories about illegal immigration as well as drug trafficking across both Texas as well as Mexico. Also, she was a substitute for weather anchors, sports anchors and forecasters. Deportes 23 was Univision Dallas affiliate and she assumed additional responsibility. She wrote pieces to The NBA, Dallas Cowboys' postseason, NBA ALDS ALCS World Series or Finals FC Dallas. She was the producer of Univision 23 Accion Deportiva Extra as anchor. The show was made a sports anchor for Despierta America Deportes' morning show. In addition, she served as anchor of the sports segment for Primer Impacto, a magazine program on the UniMas Network and Contacto Deportivo. Antonietta's parents hail from Veracruz Mexico. In Mexico City she was conceived on November 22nd 1985. There is an older sister. In 1992 the family left Mexico for the US and settled in Miami. After a short time, her father separated from her mother and she was subsequently remarried by 1995 naval architect called Fabio Fajardo. Fabio Fajardo died of kidney cancer in 2006. Her residence was at Canton Ohio with her older sister during the summer in which she was offered the opportunity of a job. Antonietta was the senior of her high school however, she was very aware of her goals for the future. She visited Mount Union University in order to find out if the school was suitable for her. Then she was enthralled with the university. The university offered her the opportunity to study a major. Her studies were completed and she was accepted into the University as a major in media studies. Mark Bergmann, her professor who was also the manager of WRMU's 91.1FM station where she worked over the years, became an acquaintance. He inspired her to believe in herself and his enthusiasm in journalism was a huge influence on her. She was determined to fulfill the expectations of him and not fail him.
